Industrial Training for Chemical Engineers and Industrial Chemists

Industrial Training is the practical area of an undergraduate degree which stipulates that all Engineering students must complete a certain amount of Industrial Training in order to complete their course. Chemical Engineering and Industrial Chemistry students spend a minimum of 60 days working in a company, usually during summer recesses at the end of their second and third years. The purpose is to prepare them for employment, giving them the opportunity to gain direct workplace experience and to apply the theory they learn in class. Requirements

  1. A form attesting to the Industrial Training undertaken must be signed by an employer for each period of Industrial Training. Download a copy of the Industrial Training Certification form.
  2. A report describing each period of Industrial Training undertaken must be handed to the CHE Student Office, with the signed form. For IT Report Requirements click here.
  3. Total approved work experience must be at least 60 working days. In some cases, the number of days approved for a particular Industrial Training placement may be less than the actual number of days worked. It is your responsibility to check with the CHE Student Office that your obligation has been met.
