Admission, Costs and How to Apply

ADMISSION

Finding a supervisor
Before applying for a Postgraduate Research degree, all applicants must make contact with a propsective supervisor in their area of interest before lodging an application.  Academic names and their research areas can be found here.

Research proposal
Applicants for ME, MSc or PhD must attach to their application form a research proposal of about 100 words which should include the following:
1. a statement of the research problem and its significance
2. an outline of the method to be used to analyse the problem
3. the names of any academics whom the applicant has contacted in the School
4. details of previous publications or research undertaken in the nominated area of interest

English requirements
All applicants for admission to UNSW programs either in Australia or overseas whose first language is not English must provide evidence that their English language ability meets the requirements for admission. The required evidence may take the form of results from an acceptable English language test undertaken no more than 2 years prior to the commencement of the program at UNSW.  For more information please click here

Other supporting documents
A full official transcript of academic qualifications must accompany the application.
A certified English translation is required if it is not in English.
